When You Feel Behind: The Truth About God’s Timing

If you’ve ever felt like you’re late to your calling… like everybody else is running ahead while you’re still stuck in the hallway of “not yet”—this is for you.

I’ve been there too.

You’ve been faithful. You’ve prayed. You’ve invested. You’ve started walking in your purpose. But now, the doors aren’t opening as fast as you thought they would. The results aren’t matching your effort. And in the quiet moments, the lie creeps in: You’re behind.

But here’s what God reminded me—and maybe it’s what you need to hear today too: You’re not behind. You’re being refined.

You see, we live in a world obsessed with milestones, metrics, and movement. But the Kingdom isn’t run by the same clock. God is not just trying to get you there—He’s working on who you’ll be when you arrive. Refinement is never punishment. It’s preparation. It’s the process that builds the strength, wisdom, and character to carry what you prayed for without it crushing you.

We rush. But God roots.

He doesn’t just want you to launch the business, He wants it anchored in Him. He doesn’t just want you to lead others, He wants you whole enough not to bleed on them. He doesn’t just want you to start, He wants you to finish well.

That’s why the waiting feels heavy—because something is being formed in you. Something that can’t be microwaved. Something that legacy requires.

Scripture says: “So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine.” —1 Peter 1:6–7 NLT

If you’ve been questioning your pace, your progress, or your worth—pause. You’re not being overlooked. You’re being prepared. You’re not late. You’re in process. And God is still working the plan.

So stay faithful. Stay planted. Stay open to the refining.

Because when He reveals what He’s been preparing, it’ll be worth the wait.
