Tired Does Not Mean Failing

Being a woman carries big responsibilities. Some are spoken out loud. Many are quietly assumed.

Over time, we learn how to hold a lot. We become the ones who remember, manage, nurture, organize, pray, encourage, and keep things moving. We carry motherhood, marriage, work, faith, family, and friendships, often all at once.

And somewhere in the middle of all that, we are expected to take care of ourselves too. Gracefully. Privately. Without inconveniencing anyone.

Especially during Christmas.

This season has a way of turning up the volume on expectations. More gatherings. More preparation. More emotional labor. More pressure to show up cheerful and grateful, even when your body and heart are asking for rest.

This year, I felt the exhaustion more deeply than usual. Not just tired, but worn.

The kind of tired that does not lift after sleep. The kind that settles in your bones and makes even good things feel heavy.

Even what was meant to be a break did not feel restful. I was still tending to needs, managing emotions, tracking details, and staying alert. Still responsible. Still anticipating what everyone else might need next.

Still on.

And instead of feeling thankful, I felt guilty for wanting space. Guilty for wishing I could step away, even briefly.

Because when you are known as the capable one, the strong one, the reliable one, it can feel unsafe to admit you are struggling. It can feel easier to push through than to pause.

But beneath all of that effort, I noticed something tender.

I was tired because I care. I was worn because I give. And I was cracking because I am human.

Loving deeply does not remove our limits.Faithfulness does not require self neglect.

If this pressure feels familiar to you, let me say this gently.

You are not weak. You are not failing. And you are not alone.

You are a woman who has been carrying more than most people see. And perhaps the most faithful thing you can do right now is acknowledge that and let yourself breathe.

“Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”Matthew 11:28, NLT
