It’s Time to Stop Hiding Behind “I’m Still Praying About It”

Let me go ahead and say it. Some of us aren’t praying anymore. We’re stalling.

And before you click out, hear me.

I believe in prayer. Deep, intentional, Spirit-led prayer.

I believe in getting still before God and asking for wisdom.

But I also know what it’s like to say,

“I’m still praying about it,”

when what I really meant was:

“I’m scared. I’m unsure. I’m uncomfortable. And I don’t want to move until it’s guaranteed to work.”

That’s not discernment. That’s delay.

And it’s time to call it what it is. Disobedience dressed up in spiritual language.

You’ve Already Heard From God

Let’s be real. There are things you’ve been praying about for years. And it’s not that God hasn’t answered.

It’s that you’re still asking for confirmation when what you really need is courage.

I know because I’ve done it.

There were moments in my journey where I kept circling the same decisions.

Launch the thing.

Say yes to the invitation.

Let go of the assignment that was draining me.

Raise my rates.

Step out in faith.

But instead of moving, I prayed.

Not because I didn’t trust God, but because I didn’t trust me.

And I told myself, “I’m just waiting on peace.”

But here’s the truth: obedience brings peace. Delay never does.

Stop Spiritualizing Your Hesitation

Some of you are stuck, not because God hasn’t spoken, but because you don’t like the weight of what He said.

It’s stretching you.

It’s requiring faith instead of formulas.

It’s pushing you to lead when you’d rather stay in the background.

So you pray again.

And again.

And again.

Not to get clarity, but to avoid commitment.

And while you’re over there spiritualizing your hesitation, the people connected to your obedience are waiting.

They don’t need your perfection.

They need your yes.

3 Coaching Questions to Move From Prayer to Progress

1. Has God already answered this, but I keep asking because I’m afraid to act?

If the answer is yes, write down what He said and make a simple action step.

No drama. Just obedience.

2. Am I hiding behind prayer as a way to delay making a decision?

If fear is running the show, no amount of praying will give you peace.

Courage builds as you move.

3. What is one thing I can do this week to align with what I already know I’m supposed to do?

Don’t wait until you feel brave. Start while your hands are still shaking.

Final Word

Prayer is powerful.

But prayer without obedience is procrastination.

And procrastination, especially in the name of being “spiritual”, is a strategy of the enemy to keep you stuck.

If God told you to do it, move.

If He gave you the vision, start.

If He confirmed the assignment, stop asking for another sign.

You are not behind.

You are not unqualified.

And you are not alone.

But you are responsible for your obedience.

So no more hiding behind “I’m still praying about it.”

Pray. Yes.

But then go do what He said.

The clarity will come.

The resources will show up.

The grace will meet you in motion.

Just don’t let the comfort of praying keep you from the breakthrough that only comes through obeying.
